Study One: Periodontal Disease (Gum disease)

Purpose of the study:
To see how different therapies affect the gums and bacteria in dental plaque of smokers.

Eligibility/Criteria:

Study Two: Periodontal Disease (gum disease)

Purpose of the study:
Gum diseases are infections that are caused by bacteria living in the mouth, particularly in dental plaque. The purpose of this study is to determine if bacteria cause gum diseases or protect against these infections.

A. Periodontally (gum) healthy subjects

Eligibility/Criteria:

Study Three: Periodontal Disease (gum disease)

Purpose of the study:
To evaluate the use of antibiotics in treating the bacteria in the mouth.

Eligibility/Criteria:

Study Four: Dental Plaque (Toothbrush, toothpaste study)

Purpose of the study:
To see if different tooth cleaning methods are better at lowering the levels of plaque and slowing its re-growth.

Eligibility/Criteria:

Study Five: Gingivitis (Toothpaste study)

Purpose of the study:
To see if the use of specific toothpaste will control gingivitis (gum inflammation).

Eligibility/Criteria:

Study Six: Gingivitis

Purpose of the study:
To look as the effects of low intensity light on your gums to see if it reduces gum inflammation in your mouth.
