Dai Feng Appointed Newest Member of The Forsyth Institute’s Board of Directors
Cambridge, Mass – February 12, 2018 – The Forsyth Institute, a pioneer in biomedical and oral microbiome research, today announced the newest member of its Board of Directors, Dai Feng, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of CareCapital Advisors Limited. Feng will bring a breadth of innovation and entrepreneurship to Forsyth’s Board of Directors. Feng has a long track record of supporting dental entrepreneurs, formulating strategy and process for commercialization of new medical technology, identifying talented executives for dental and medical companies, and financing startups and growth-stage companies.
“At the Forsyth Institute, we are constantly working to empower our researchers to develop scientific breakthroughs that not only translate in our labs, but also in the commercial market place, said Dr. Wenyuan Shi, Forsyth CEO and Chief Scientific Officer. “We know that Dai’s commitment to entrepreneurship in his own life will further the success of our research throughout the Institute.”
A Harvard School of Dental Medicine affiliate, the Forsyth Institute is a convener for experiential research. As an independent research institute, Forsyth has the freedom to follow research wherever it leads, and to collaborate with a broad spectrum of stakeholders—other research organizations, industry, practicing professionals, public leaders, and patients—to meet shared goals and discover cutting edge technology.
“I’m honored to join Forsyth’s Board of Directors as their mission closely aligns with my work and passion to ensure that dental entrepreneurs have the guidance and resources to be successful,” said Feng. “As a member of the Board, I will work to emphasize and support the commercialization of innovative dental technologies, provide strategic and commercial guidance for young companies and help Forsyth bring clinical best practices to emerging markets around the world. I am excited to be working with such a pioneering research organization and to be able to contribute towards the goal of improving general oral health among the public.”
At CareCapital, Dai leads efforts in developing and building a portfolio of successful dental companies across digital orthodontics, dental imaging and intraoral scanners, practice management software, dental distribution, dental service organization, training and education, and oral consumer health. Prior to co-founding CareCapital, Feng was a partner of Warburg Pincus where he built and led healthcare investment in Asia. During his tenure, Dai nurtured a number of billion dollar market cap companies in cardiology devices, consumer health, plasma therapy and eye-care that became large and successful businesses. Earlier in his career, Feng has held several positions with Goldman Sachs Asia LLC and was involved in various software and engineering ventures in Boston.
